Jazz Room EB
EB(Executive Business) in Abu Dhabi
I was in Iloilo
City at home after 3 months stay in Manila when I
got a long distance call from Abu Dhabi. I was caught by surprised
when Bleu informed me that my Visa is ready for pick-up and that I am scheduled to leave July 5, 2:00PM Manila bound for UAE. I called my travel agent
in Manila to get ready my roundtrip ticket and that to book
me accordingly, and look for the nearest hotel to my business meeting area.
In between unfinished business in Iloilo and
my scheduled trip I was in panicked that throw me on my sickbed. Like a wear off tire of an old army truck I was not prevented
in planning my trip, instead I keep myself busy gathering my papers and business documents.
I requested Alex to work on the Manila side regarding my plane sit reservation
and confirmation and picking me up in the airport.
Despite his very busy schedule between his managing a Caregiver School and a Training Facility Alex is very kind to do things for me in Manila.

Gastromic Weekend Encounter of the
Jazz Kind…(2nd EB)
Philippines, (June 11, 2005) – The anxiety on the air for
weeks has brought the three of us together again. As Manila braces the out come of the Jueting gate and the Wire Tapping Gate we book ourselves
for a weekend social.
Late evening Friday as People Power is on the making, Neng and Enie confirmed our plan for weekend
gastromic adventure. As usual the two being so kind and understanding SM North was again chosen as the venue. The time suggested was 11:00 AM, place of encounter was “Ted Lapaz Batchoy” again. This is just the easiest meeting
point for the meeting.
I needed a head start so I arrived early than the suggested time. Besides I am tune up to an American
time so I don’t want to be late. Neng comes next fall short of the given
time. As she positioned herself across my table she started to put up the food she brought. We could just imagine having a
picnic at SM Food Court.
She brought with her a sun dried peanuts, sineguelas and a packet of raisins. We ate while we chat at the same time
waiting for Enie.
Enie came far third as she was caught by the traffic down EDSA.
The lateness is excused as both have a fitting alibi. As I told you early,
People Power brewing and EDSA stand still, Liwasang Bonifacio was having a mass actions. Of course with all these activities
traffic cannot be avoided.
Lunch Time…
The long awaited taste of Batchoy an Ilonggo delicacy was at last savor by Enie and Neng. As we started
to reminisce our PalTalk experience we enjoy more our lunch.
The noises of the maddening crowd in the food court made as decide to move. Since a good lunch needs
a good cup of coffee, I again suggested Jive and Java Coffee Shop as I am more familiar with SM North. It is just a corner from our lunch spot but the air is much cooler there. We talk some more of PalTalk
and some funny topics we all both experience. The rest of the subject matter is again for our keeping.
As we are over due of our table because we lost tract of time, Enie suggested dissert. It was time
for Neng camera to pop out of her bag. We suggested the waitress to snap the first picture of the day. Then we all agreed
to look for a good dissert. So we went up to the ground floor and explore Pizza
Hut for good sweets for the next 2 hours. As usual Neng’s cam was put again
into action.
Since we have all the time of the world Neng suggested dinner.
So we keep exploring the whole SM North. Since I brought with me my paper
works, I suggested we cross to the next building (Cyberzone). I went to look
for a printing shop for my works while both girls decide to go window shopping. After I am done with my printing, dinner was
next to our agenda.
A pampagueno restaurant (MANGAN) was the next food stop. The usual posing and smiling was done as
we waited for our food. The time was past 8:00
PM during our
time check as we decided to wrap up the evening.
The whole day none stop eating brought us into a gastronomic trance as we are enjoying the usual
PalTalk chit chat. Before we said our bye a next schedule was suggested. I excuse myself as I am schedule to fly back to Iloilo City and eventually have an open reservation to go overseas. This
will be a mix business trip and an EB with a very special friend. The usual good bye kiss ended our day.
I am sure more EB’s between the three of us are coming. I wish those who wanted to join our
experience would not hesitate to come forward. After all sharing the day expense makes our day full of fun.
Till the next EB people! Mabuhay!
1st EB Encounter...
Philippines,
(May 20, 2005) – The noon heat wave in Manila
never stop the three of us to meet. Of all places SM North was chosen, my thanks to Enie and Neng for there understanding,
I had been away for a while (15 years) and I am getting lost in Metro Manila besides, SM North is a stone throw away from
my place.
How these plan push through?
Well… It was just a modest plan arranged by Neng a week ago. I thought all the while
it won’t push through, until Enie called to remind me. Feeling excited and looking forward to see PalTalk friends, I
suggested a very cozy Vietnamese Restaurant for the lunch. And to hint everyone this is my 1st ever EB, I may be
more ancient in PalTalk but I am not that exposed to the things called EB.
How we
will come together?
Early evening I suggested
the SM Food Court must be the easy way to meet. Besides, I wanted to introduce Enie and
Neng to an Ilonggo delicacy. So I suggested Ted’s Lapaz Batchoy is the mark point. I was also thinking Batchoy would
be a good brunch. Well… Midday traffic stranded Enie; bad phone signal inside SM routed Neng. Or, can the place maybe not that classy?
Of course not! It is just the jungle of Manila not that compassionate to the three of us.
First
time meeting…
Neng
arrived ahead, as I was far looking her approach the mark point. Who can miss me when I had my face published in FCRS Web
Site over decade now? Neng cannot be skip too; her familiar smiling face easily
caught my attention. A hug and a quick welcome kiss were honor each of us. We
easily feel comfortable with each other thinking over 2 years in the Jazz Room made us look like old friends. Enie came late
but with all our excitement we just give each and everyone of us a welcome hug and kiss again. Batchoy was lapsed from consciousness,
as we all feel hungry. We all decide then to go straight to the Vietnamese Restaurant
(Pho Hoa) and ordered a heavy lunch for everyone.
Gastronomic
appetite…
As soon
as we got ourselves seated we all oblige ourselves with a gastronomic choice of food. It was follow then with knowing more
each other as we covered a wide variety of topics. More on that later…
Camera Shy…
Neng was quick to draw out her small cam from her purse. First shot was Enie and I feeling nagkahiyaan pa.
Next shot was suggested it would be the three of us. The kindness of the waiter afforded us the select shot. See anything obvious? Is it the looks? No! Is it the pose? No! Do you think we feel
more nationalistic with our attire? Yes! Enie in red, Neng in blue while I am in white. See?
More shots were taken but my trembling hands due to my 1st ever EB excitability sends most of the
picture to the editing folder.
Change of venue…
After spending almost 4 hours lunch in Pho Hoa, dissert was suggested. Neng was quick to make a reservation
at Iceberg for Halo-Halo. Since the place are still fully booked due to extreme heat that day we extended our stay in Pho
Hoa and spend talking more about PalTalk. What’s in between topics are just for our consumption.
Halo-halo ready…
As space made available for us, we move to Iceberg. Just as we are seated pictorial was suggested again. Here
we are more comfortable with each other the reason more smiles are fashioned on our faces. What else is new with Neng and
Enie? Of course nothing for me as I am used to there being candid and funny in the Jazz Room.
Well… Another 2 hours was too short to share jokes and some serious thoughts with each other. As sunset
almost conspicuous we ended the 1st EB with another schedule open on our calendar. So everyone out there looking
forward to join us, please feel free to insert your schedule. Remember… Putting face to our daily text and chat makes
you feel better having new friends in your life. Also put this in your attention, it is not really the place or the grandeur
of expense but the genuineness of friendship that is counted here. Pitch in for the day expense and it will bring you more
closer.
Take care everyone as the three of us bid each other good bye and hoping to add more friends to the next EB.
